The Reception...

The recption was such a blast! We had a DJ that was absolutely rocking and kept everyone pumped, even hours after Ryan and I left.

My parents started the reception off with a great toast, setting the mood for a night of fun and celebration.

We were scerenaded by some of our guests as they sang songs that had the word "Love" in them. Ryan's pilot buddies were quick to jump up and sing a song from Top Gun.

After we were settled into the recpetion and the first course was served, we got both of our parents and all of our grandparents together to create a legacy picture. All of the couple held a sign that said how many years they had been married. All of our grandparents have been married over 50 years. One of Ryan's grandfathers passed a few years back, so his grandmother held a picture of him and how many years they would have been married.

Once we were back in the reception, we sat down for our toasts. my sister didn't leave a dry eye in the entire room.

After the 5 course meal that was served, it was time to dig into the cake. Tradiational for military weddings, we cut the cake with Ryan's saber.

Of course we couldn't leave out the bouquet toss. With many cousins and sorority sisters among our guests, I thought it would be a fun idea to break up my tossing bouquet, allowing many girls to recieve flowers rather than just one.

Right before Ryan right went to find my garter, he got all of his guys to sing "My Girl" to me

Our first dance was to Luther Vandross' "Endless Love"....

I think for any girl who is close to her daddy, the father/daughter dance is an emotional one. We floated across the dance floor to "Butterfly Kisses" which has been a special song between my dad and I for many years.

Once all of the formal stuff was out of the way, it was time to get the party started. With an open bar and a great DJ the party sure was awesome!

At the end of the night, we were sent off by hundreds of tiny foam planes while we danced to "Come Fly With Me." It was perfect to send us off to the base where Ryan was to become a pilot.

Our wedding day was the best day of our lives. I was so relieved to finally be able to call Ryan my husband. I hope you all enjoyed!

  1. Omg ... the planes and "Come Fly with Me"?! Too freaking cute. I'm sure every little girl at your guys' wedding has this etched into memory as what a wedding should be!
